| dcterms.abstract | Canine dirofilariosis caused by Dirofilaria immitis („heart worm“) today can be freely
named as a disease wide spread in whole Serbia. Diagnostic of this disease is well
known as well in Serbia as in the whole world. There are several diagnostic methods
for this disease, more or less difficult to perform, which are available. Some methods
are for the diagnostics of adult form of the causative agent and others are for detection
of larval stage of Dirofilaria immitis. However, the interpretation of gained results
and formulation of the conclusion, especially if several different tests are performed,
is not always simple.
In this study a total of 101 samples were analysed. The samples were from the owned
dogs, which were brought to veterinary practices for numerous different reasons. The
samples were analysed by the following methods: modified Knot test, fast test, and
ELISA test for the antigen and ELISA test for antibodies against Dirofilaria immitis.
A total match in found results was undoubtable in total and it was found in 77 samples.
Discordance of the results which can be explained in some way were found in 14
samples, and in 10 samples there was a discordance which cannot be explained and it
should be treated as an error in the laboratory work. The conclusions from this study
are very important as the experience to share. | En |
