Biosecurity measures at a swine farm includes all measures taken to minimize the risk of introduction and spread of different pathogens on the farm. Biosecurity principles ca be applied in all production systems and in relation to the largest number of swine infectious diseases. However, quite often the biosecurity measures in the field must be adapted to the both: the target disease and the production system in which they will be realized and implemented. An important element in the biosecurity on the pig farms are disinfection and pest control measures. The aim of the paper is the analysis of factors that can potentially influence the realization and efficiency of implemented disinfection and pest control measures in the light of the prevention of introduction different pathogens into the swine farm. The material for research included commercial swine farms with the organised pig production (farrow-to-finish) on in the territory of the South Bačka and Srem district. On the selected swine farms the disinfection and pest control measures are continuously implemented, in order to prevent the introduction of different pathogens on the farm (external biosecurity), as well as preventing the further spread of pathogens that are already present on the farm to other production categories (internal biosecurity). In the paper the procedures and disinfection and pest control measures are analysed, within the application of modern equipment and new commercially available preparations. Also, factors that can significantly influence the implementation disinfection and pest control measures and procedures (for instance, procedures for previous mechanical cleaning and sanitary washing, the age of treated objects, characteristics of building materials, etc.) are especially considered. In conclusion, it can be pointed out that disinfection and pest control measures are important elements in the framework of biosafety measures, both in the light of the prevention and control of different causative agents, and other potential sources of infection on swine farms (rodents, insects, birds).En
