The studywasconductedonacommercialpigfarmlocatedinSerbia.ThirtyDurocor
Landrace breedboarswererandomlyselectedforthisstudy.Theexperimentalgroupwasfeda
compound feedwithaddedorganicseleniumandOxynat3D.Theantioxidantstatusparameters
of boarseminalplasmawereevaluatedusingabiochemicalanalyzerandcommercialRandoxkits.
The spermchromatinstructureassay(SCSA)usingflowcytometry(FC)providedinformationabout
spermatozoa’s DNAstatus.Additionally,thetotalnumberofmotilespermatozoaandspermatozoa
kinematic parametersweremeasuredusingthecomputer-assistedspermanalysis(CASA)system.
The aimofthisstudywastoimprovetheparametersofsemenbycombiningtwopreparationsthat
have apotentialantioxidanteffect,butalsotoestablishthelevelofvariousantioxidantenzymes
in nativesperm.Therewasnostatisticallysignificantdifferenceintotalantioxidantcapacityand
glutathione peroxidaseactivityintheseminalplasmaobtainedfromtheexperimentalandcon-
trolgroupsofboars.Regardingthesuperoxidedismutaseactivity,theresearchresultsshoweda
differenceinthecontrolgroupcomparedtotheexperimentalone.Moreover,spermatozoaDNA
fragmentation andthetotalnumberofmotilespermatozoashowedstatisticallysignificantlower
and highervalues,respectively,inexperimentalcomparedtothecontrolgroups.Thecombination
of thesetwopreparationsshowssignificantlyenhancedvitalparametersofsemen.Tothebestof
our knowledge,thisstudyisthefirstinwhichtheejaculateparameterswereexaminedafterthe
application ofacombinationofthesetwoantioxidantsupplements.
